Janna Larsen, Founder/Artistic Director of Junior Musical Theatre Company (1990-2010), Winnipeg Broadway Theatre (2011-Present), and Musical Theatre for Change (2014-Present), performing arts educator (2001-Present), Divisional Performing Arts Consultant (2016-2018 and guest instructor at Brandon University, Canadian Nazarene College, University of Manitoba and the University of Winnipeg. She has produced/directed over 300 musical theatre productions, including self-penned In Search of a Star, Anne Frank, Once Upon a Canada, and The Little Matchbox Girl, produced Off-Broadway in 2010. Further experience includes directing with Alan Myers on the set of Boy Meets World and working with Broadway’s Lion King and Wicked.
Twelve young people, ages 11 - 18, will be coming together Aug. 5 - 13 for an experience of musical theatre and prepare a show to share with the public. The show, created by Janna Larsen, is a medley of songs from a variety of musicals, brought together as an artistic expression of the shared experiences and emotions we've all lived with during the pandemic. Songs include Any Dream Will Do (Joseph), Seasons of Love (Rent), This is Me (The Greatest Showman), On My Own (Les Mis), Seize the Day (Newsies), You Will be Found (Ear Evan Hansen), and many more.
Come join us for the performance, Aug. 13, 7:00 pm at the Winkler Parkland Stage. Tickets must be bought ahead (Adults - $10, Youth ages 6 - 17 - $5, Children 5 and under - free).
