Douglas Kuhl School of Music
where music inspires community
Adventures in Music
Adventures in Music is a program of the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra. Student music groups in school grades 4 - 6 (strings, recorder, movement or choir) are invited to perform onstage with the WSO in a series of school concerts. Send us Ean email at strings.dksm@gmail.com if you are interested in signing up.
What: Adventures in Music is a Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra educational concert series in
which student groups (strings, recorder, movement, choral) are invited to participate by playing a
piece on stage with the WSO. The audience consists mainly of school groups and parents. The
symphony repeats this concert 8 times in total, but with different student groups each time.
Check out the WSO website here: https://wso.ca/adventures-in-music/
Where: Winnipeg Centennial Concert Hall, 555 Main St., Winnipeg
When: Arrive at Concert Hall by 10:30 am, Wednesday, April 12. Concert is at 1:00 p.m (and
goes about an hour).
Who: Violin, cello, and bass students in school grades 4 - 8 are invited to participate (some
exceptions may be made with age.) Playing level will be minimum RCM gr. 3, however
teachers and parents will need to discern together whether or not participation makes sense for
the student this year. Participation will be based both on this discernment and on a first
come/first serve basis as our numbers are limited by space restrictions on the stage.
Repertoire: The repertoire the WSO has chosen is Great Gates of Kiev by Modest Mussorgsky.
Cost: $30 per student, cheques payable to DKSM
Rehearsals: Thursdays, March 16 and 23, 6:15 – 7:00 pm / Mondays, April 3 and 10, 6:15 – 7:00 pm
Location TBD
