Choirs & Vocal
WINKLER SENIOR CHOIR
The Winkler Senior Choir is a voluntary choral program for seniors and it has no auditions or report cards. The choir meets every Tuesday morning from September through May to sing, laugh, and encourage one another.

The choir began as a program at the Winkler Senior Centre in the fall of 1998. Over the past two decades, the choir has performed in local church services, at charitable events, banquets, senior choir festivals, and through annual concerts in December and spring. For over a decade, the choir has collaborated with DKSM’s vocal groups, including Homeschool Harmony and the recently added Con Brio vocal ensemble, in its annual spring concert. These partnerships have fostered a mutually enriching relationship. In September 2018, the Winkler Senior Choir integrated into the Douglas Kuhl School of Music, providing additional opportunities for collaboration.
CON BRIO
Con Brio is a musical theater ensemble where students have the opportunity to explore their voice in a group setting. Members will learn to build confidence in their voice, develop collaboration skills (harmony, blend), performance skills and grow in musicianship. Primarily, we will be exploring musical theater repertoire!
Con Brio is open to all voices in grades 7-12 (ages 12-18), and will be accepting a max of 16 students per session. Open to students of all levels and experiences, each season will end with a collaborative concert alongside other DKSM ensembles!
Pembina Valley Youth Chorus
A NEW choir for Junior and Senior Youth students who don’t have access to a school choir, or are keen choristers looking for additional choral experiences! Directed by Erin Klassen, singers will have a Fall and Winter season, each ending with a joint DKSM ensemble concert. They will explore a variety of choral styles while developing ensemble singing skills - and having fun together!

Private Instruction
ALLEGRO STRINGS
Our DKSM teachers believe that every person is capable of learning to make music and we strive for relationships of care, trust and respect as we support our students' musical journey. We hope to create an environment that is enjoyable, encouraging and safe for students and their families.
Each DKSM teacher has their own approach to music teaching and will incorporate their own blend of teaching methods and techniques.
Our hope is to build an engaging, positive and fun atmosphere where the love of music can be experienced and creativity is welcomed.
